Vladimir Kozlinskii

Vladimir Kozlinskii was an artist whose documented career was focused on the immediate aftermath of the Russian Revolution, with known creative activity spanning the years 1918 to 1921. His artistic output centers on social and political commentary, characterized primarily by graphic prints and designs depicting the social typology and tensions of the early Soviet era.

Kozlinskii is best known for the portfolio Geroi i zhertvy revoliutsii. Oktiabr' 1917–1918 (Heroes and Victims of the Revolution: October 1917–1918). Works represented from this series include Krasnoarmeeits (Red Army Soldier), Shveia (Seamstress), Automobilist, Zavodchik (Factory Owner), and Pop (Priest), each illustrating specific roles within the changing Russian hierarchy.

A total of eight works—seven prints and one design—by Kozlinskii are represented in major international institutions, establishing the artist's significance in documenting the period. Examples of Vladimir Kozlinskii prints are held in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Much of the artist’s historically relevant material is now considered part of the public domain, allowing for the creation of high-quality prints for scholarly research and exhibition.
