Tulita Westfall

Tulita Westfall was an artist active during a concentrated period between 1935 and 1937. Their documented output consists exclusively of studies associated with the Index of American Design (IAD), a comprehensive initiative dedicated to documenting the decorative and folk arts heritage of the United States.

Westfall focused on producing precise, factual renderings of artifacts, typically detailing craftsmanship and material culture. Fifteen of these specific index of american designs are represented in major museum collections, establishing the artist as a contributor to this significant mid-century documentation project.

The National Gallery of Art holds examples of Westfall's work, which includes detailed studies of various items, such as the jewelry renderings Cross Necklace, Pearl Pin, and Pin, alongside domestic and decorative artifacts like Wooden Cart and Baby's Earring. These images serve as important historical records, and many of these index studies are in the public domain. Researchers and enthusiasts often utilize downloadable artwork and obtain high-quality prints of Westfall’s documentation for study purposes.
