Robert Schuerer
Robert Schuerer was an artist or renderer documented as active during the specific period of 1935 to 1937. Schuerer’s verifiable output consists of five design studies created for the Index of American Design, a large-scale governmental project dedicated to documenting historical American decorative and folk arts.
These designs function as detailed, museum-quality records of material culture from the early to mid-nineteenth century. The works represented in collections include studies of a Daguerreotype Case, Chocolate Pitcher, Glass Vase, Luster Mug, and a Match Holder. All five documented prints are preserved in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Art, establishing Schuerer’s contribution to this important documentation initiative.
As these historical prints are frequently available in the public domain today, they continue to serve as significant reference material for researchers and collectors.
