Riza-yi Abbasi
Riza-yi Abbasi was an artist active from approximately 1575 to 1625, documenting a significant period of late sixteenth and early seventeenth century art. His artistic output centers on single-page manuscript illustrations and detailed figural studies.
Nine of Riza-yi Abbasi’s illustrated folios and manuscripts are documented across major international institutions. His work is prominently represented in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Cleveland Museum of Art. The pieces held in these museums often demonstrate his mastery of human subjects and portraiture.
Notable works preserved in collections include Man in a Fur-Lined Coat, Man in a Long-sleeved Coat, and the focused study, Portrait of a Man. Further examples, such as Sleeping Youth (verso), Illustration from a Single Page Manuscript and Persian Couplets (recto); Sleeping Youth (verso), reveal his proficiency in integrating detailed figures with manuscript formats. These Riza-yi Abbasi paintings and drawings are increasingly reproduced today as high-quality prints, making the historical downloadable artwork widely accessible for study and appreciation.
