Nicolas-Joseph Voyez

Nicolas-Joseph Voyez was active as a printmaker between 1744 and 1778. His documented artistic career spanned over three decades during the mid to late 18th century, focusing on reproductive engravings and social subjects. Examples of Nicolas-Joseph Voyez prints are preserved in the collections of major American institutions, establishing his role within the period's graphic arts.

Currently, six distinct prints are documented in institutional collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago and the National Gallery of Art. Notable among these works are The Director and the pair The Road to Fortune (also listed as Le chemin de la fortune). Voyez contributed engravings to important publications of his time, including the series Monument du Costume Physique et Moral de la fin du Dix-huitième siècle, represented by the plates La Toilette and Unexpected Call.

The continued preservation of his work in leading collections validates his historical significance. Today, many of these 18th-century images are available in the public domain, allowing researchers and collectors access to high-quality prints derived from the original works.
