Michel van Lochom

Michel van Lochom was a printmaker and illustrator active between 1611 and 1638. Known primarily for producing graphic works, Van Lochom’s documented output centers on detailed portraiture and architectural illustration, with two books and four independent prints represented in institutional collections.

The artist’s work includes several devotional engravings, such as the portraits Portret van H. Franciscus van Paola, Portret van H. Petrus Nolasco, Portret van H. Scholastica, and Portret van H. Wilhelmus van Malavalle. Van Lochom was also involved in the illustration of published works, contributing the specific image Grand Parterre du Jardin de la Royne mere a Luxembourg to the volume Traité du Jardinage selon les Raisons de la Nature et de l'Art.

Michel van Lochom prints are housed in major international institutions, confirming the artist’s historical significance. These collections include the Rijksmuseum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
