Maurits van der Valk
Maurits van der Valk was an artist whose active period spanned the late nineteenth century, documented working between 1867 and 1893. His known body of work consists exclusively of prints, reflecting an interest in both specific topographical views and detailed object studies.
The artist explored varied settings, including recognizable landscape subjects such as Landschap met bomen en kerk, Bomenrij bij een duin, and Landweg door landschap met heuvels aan de horizon. In contrast to these expansive outdoor scenes, Van der Valk also executed precise still life prints, notably Chinese vaas met vier kleine beelden.
Seven Maurits van der Valk prints are currently represented in major institutional collections, establishing his presence in the history of graphic arts. His work is held by the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Due to their age and historical provenance, many of these images are now accessible to the public domain, allowing for the reproduction of high-quality prints for study and preservation.
