Maerten de Vos

Maerten de Vos (1531-1576), also known as Maerten de Vos the Elder, was a foundational Flemish painter whose career proved pivotal in the second half of the sixteenth century. He is recognized primarily for his monumental history paintings, complex allegories, and insightful portraiture.
