László Peri
László Peri was an artist whose known professional activity spanned a brief but significant period between 1922 and 1923. The works represented in major institutions consist primarily of prints and drawings, suggesting an exploration of graphic media and geometric abstraction.
Six documented works by Peri are held in museum collections, notably the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). The collection includes four prints and two drawings. The majority of these pieces are focused on spatial relationships, exemplified by the recurring titles Space Construction 7 (Raumkonstruktion 7) and Space Construction 8 (Raumkonstruktion 8). These titles indicate a sustained formal interest in architectonic principles and structured, non-representational composition typical of early 1920s avant-garde movements.
In addition to the prints, the collection holds the drawing In Front of the Table. As early 20th-century geometric studies, Peri’s compositions are valued for their formal rigor and historical context. Today, many of these historically important works are entering the public domain, allowing institutions to make high-quality prints and downloadable artwork accessible for study and collection. The preservation of these works in collections like MoMA confirms their status as museum-quality examples of abstract graphic art from the period.
