Kapousouz

Kapousouz was an artist active for a brief period between 1935 and 1936. Their documented output relates directly to the Index of American Design (IAD) project, a federal initiative dedicated to recording examples of historic and contemporary American decorative arts and folk objects.

Seven of Kapousouz’s indexed designs are represented in museum collections, confirming their contribution to this important historical effort. The subjects of these renderings focus on functional and domestic items, including a drawing titled Shaker Basket and multiple depictions of objects cataloged simply as Doll.

Kapousouz’s documented works are held in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Art. Due to the era in which the works were created under federal sponsorship, these Kapousouz prints and renderings are frequently categorized as public domain material, making them available for study or for generating high-quality prints.
