John Moran

John Moran was a photographer active during the mid-nineteenth century, documenting the American landscape primarily between 1858 and 1871. Although his documented career spanned little more than a decade, his work is held in major institutions, including the National Gallery of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Moran focused extensively on capturing scenic views and specific geographic features. Fifteen of his photographs are represented in museum collections, confirming the historical significance of John Moran prints within early American landscape documentation.
