Jan Dam Steuerwald was a graphic artist active during the second quarter of the nineteenth century. His documented period of professional activity spans twenty years, dating from 1826 to 1846. Steuerwald specialized in the production of prints, utilizing the medium for documentary, numismatic, and architectural subjects.

Seven of Steuerwald’s prints are preserved in museum collections, confirming the historical importance of his output. These works are represented primarily in the holdings of the Rijksmuseum. His output includes illustrations that reflect contemporary interest in civic organizations and historical artifacts.
