Jacob Byerly

Jacob Byerly was a photographer active between the years 1841 and 1858. His surviving body of work documents mid-19th century subjects, often focusing on regional scenes and portraiture.

Five of Byerly's known photographs are represented in museum collections, confirming his contribution to early American photography. These pieces often capture specific historical or local subjects, emphasizing documentation and personal portraiture. Documented works include the portrait Sargent Louis Albaugh, a view of Frederick, Maryland, and Portrait of a Woman with a Wash Tub.
