Hendrik Schwegman was a printmaker whose active period spanned nearly four decades, from 1771 to 1810. Operating during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, his known output consists primarily of detailed landscape and topographical views executed as prints.
Schwegman’s professional standing is attested to by the collection of his work preserved in major institutions. Twelve of his prints are currently represented in the Rijksmuseum collection, establishing his legacy within institutional archives. His subjects often capture specific locations and pastoral settings, reflecting the contemporary interest in both grand European views and intimate rural scenes.
Notable prints held in museum collections include the topographical views Gezicht op Aix, Gezicht op Narbonne, and Gezicht op Pont du Gard, alongside detailed landscapes like Boerderij aan het water and Lamdschap met boerderij, hengelaar en fuiken.
