Hashim

Hashim was an artist active across a vast period spanning 1505 to 1648. His documented output focuses primarily on courtly subjects and portraiture, reflecting the aesthetic demands of the royal milieu in which he operated.

Hashim is represented in major museum collections by six works: three manuscript folios, two paintings, and one drawing. His most significant contributions include three folios from the renowned Shah Jahan Album, focusing on identifiable figures of political import: the Portrait of Jadun Rai Deccani, the Portrait of Ibrahim 'Adil Shah II of Bijapur, and the Portrait of Mulla Muhammad Khan Vali of Bijapur. Further works documented in the collections include the study Elephant and Rider and the portrait Shah Jahan.

The existence of these high-quality prints and original Hashim paintings establishes the artist's historical significance, with authenticated works preserved in prominent institutions. His known works are held by both the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Cleveland Museum of Art, confirming his place in the verifiable history of court painting. Today, pieces originally created by Hashim, now often in the public domain, are studied as historically significant downloadable artwork.
