Giovanni Vendramini

Giovanni Vendramini was an artist represented by works created during a brief period spanning 1795 and 1796. The known output of Vendramini consists entirely of prints, primarily genre scenes that document the daily activity and street life of the period.

Five documented prints attributed to Vendramini are represented in museum collections. These works frequently depict vendors and their characteristic street cries, offering detailed social observations. The documented series includes the prints Fresh Gathered Peas, Young Hastings, Knives, Scissors and Razors to Grind, Old Chairs to Mend, Strawberries, Scarlet Strawberries, and Hot Spice Ginger Bread Smoking Hot. These Giovanni Vendramini prints are often valued as museum-quality examples of late 18th-century graphic work.

The preservation of these five prints establishes Vendramini’s presence in institutional holdings, with examples located in the collection of the National Gallery of Art. Since much of this historical material resides within the public domain, high-quality prints derived from these images are widely accessible today.
