Franz Brun

Franz Brun was an artist active across the 16th century, with a documented working period spanning from 1510 to 1584. Brun’s known output centered primarily on the medium of prints. A small corpus of seven prints by the artist is represented in major American institutions, establishing their presence within the early modern European tradition.

Notable examples of Brun’s graphic work preserved in collections include the narrative pieces Woman and Death and The Gunner, alongside the study A Chained Monkey. The work Three Months is also cataloged among the prints held in the database.

Brun’s prints are currently represented in prestigious institutions, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Gallery of Art, and the Cleveland Museum of Art. Today, these historical works are often available as high-quality prints, and due to their age and institutional holdings, they frequently fall under the classification of public domain, making the downloadable artwork available for scholarly research and display.
