Fabio Berardi

Fabio Berardi was an artist active in printmaking during the mid-eighteenth century, with documented activity spanning the years 1745 to 1760. His body of work, as represented in major institutions, confirms his skill in both landscape and mythological subjects common to the period.

Berardi’s prints are preserved in museum collections, including works held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The current database accounts for six known prints, establishing his presence in the history of eighteenth-century graphic arts.

The artist’s output demonstrates a focus on detailed scenic compositions, such as Landscape with Ruins and Fountain, River Scene, and River Scene with Castle. Alongside these topographical works, Berardi produced complex narrative pieces based on classical literature, exemplified by The Judgment of Paris and Zeus handing the golden apple to Hermes, above the sleeping figure of Paris.

Today, many of the original impressions of Fabio Berardi prints reside in the public domain, offering broader access to his work. The ongoing interest in generating high-quality prints from his surviving plates confirms the continued historical value of his graphic contributions. Researchers often rely on detailed, museum-quality reproductions for study.
