Edward DiGennero
Edward DiGennero was active professionally during a concentrated period between 1938 and 1941. His documented work is dedicated to the Index of American Design (IAD), a seminal project focused on creating high-quality visual documentation of American decorative, utilitarian, and folk arts. This project aimed to create comprehensive records of historic American craft and design.
DiGennero’s output is represented by eight items for the Index of American Design, which are preserved in institutional archives. These works are held in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Art, establishing their lasting reference value. The documented works often detail architectural features or historical fixtures.
Specific works attributed to the artist and held in museum collections include a design for a Stencilled Floor and two separate renderings of a Drinking Fountain. The collection also includes the documentation of a pair of decorative elements recorded as Lion's Head (one of pair). These detailed drawings and prints provide valuable historical reference material. Today, many of these records are available as royalty-free downloadable artwork, ensuring scholarly access to these museum-quality historical designs.
