Dent

Dent was a printmaker active during the late eighteenth century, documenting a professional period spanning the years 1790 through 1795. Though records indicate a relatively short window of activity, the artist established a significant artistic presence, evidenced by the preservation of their surviving work in institutional archives.

Fifteen documented Dent prints are currently represented across museum collections. This includes key holdings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, establishing the artist's historical relevance and supporting the demand for museum-quality reproductions of their output.

The known body of work consists exclusively of prints, covering various subjects and narrative sequences. Noted works include A Chorus of Singers, The Bench, and the paired studies Before and After. Dent also contributed to established narrative forms, specifically represented by the print A Rake's Progress, Plate 2. Today, these historical Dent prints are often available as high-quality prints, ensuring accessibility for scholars and the general public.
