Portrait of Cornelis Elandts

Cornelis Elandts

Cornelis Elandts was an artist known for his topographic views and prints, active between 1663 and 1681. His verifiable output focuses on detailed architectural subjects and sweeping landscapes of the Dutch region, providing important documentation of 17th-century estates and cityscapes.

Elandts's production centers almost entirely on the area around The Hague, capturing views of significant castles and governmental architecture. Seven of Cornelis Elandts prints are currently represented in museum collections, including works preserved by the Rijksmuseum.

Specific documented works highlight his specialization in recording local views. These include the two known prints titled Panoramisch gezicht op Den Haag, as well as detailed depictions of specific estates and fortresses: Gezicht op Kasteel Westerbeek, Gezicht op Huis ter Nieuburch te Rijswijk, and Gezicht op Kasteel Duivenvoorde te Voorschoten.

As historical documentation, these prints possess significant archival value. These images are now transitioning into the public domain, allowing for the reproduction of high-quality prints based on the originals held in institutional archives.
