Clementine de Brelaz

Clementine de Brelaz was an artist active in the production of prints around 1840. The documented body of work attributed to de Brelaz consists of fourteen prints, predominantly detailed landscape and topographical views of Sintra, Portugal. These works serve as significant historical records of the region’s architecture and geography in the mid-19th century.

De Brelaz focused specifically on local landmarks and vistas, capturing the distinct atmosphere of Sintra. Notable works held in museum collections include Close up view of the Castle of the Moors near Sintra, View of Rio de Porto in Sintra with the Castle of the Moors in the background, and View of Sintra with what is now the National Palace in the background. Additional known compositions include View of Sinta near the Colares river and View of Sintra with the Castanheiros hills in the background.
