Bachiacca

Bachiacca was an artist active across the first half of the 16th century, documented across the years 1494 to 1540. The artist is represented in major international institutions by six known works: five paintings and one drawing.

These works are held in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Art, establishing Bachiacca’s presence in prominent public art databases. The represented subject matter includes religious narratives, mythological scenes, and figurative studies.

Among the specific works held in collections are the paintings The Flagellation of Christ, Leda and the Swan, Eve with Cain and Abel, and Madonna and Child. A drawing, Young Man Standing in Profile Facing Left (recto); Sketch of Two Capitals (verso), is also documented. The enduring quality of these museum-quality pieces ensures their importance in studying the period. Today, many historical Bachiacca prints and paintings are accessible as downloadable artwork due to their status as public domain holdings.
