Antoine Aveline, Jean Mondon

Antoine Aveline and Jean Mondon were artists known for their collaborative work in printmaking, active around the year 1736. Their documented output primarily consists of prints that address both figural subjects and decorative design elements characteristic of the 18th century.

Seven of their prints are represented in major museum collections, establishing their historical significance in graphic arts. The National Gallery of Art holds several examples of Antoine Aveline, Jean Mondon prints, including narrative works such as L'Amour Couronnée, Le Galand Chasseur, Le Rendez-vous, and l'Amoureux Guerrier. Their output also included functional design literature, documented by the print Troisieme livre de formes Cartels et Rocailles (Title Page).

As 18th-century graphic artists, the works of Aveline and Mondon provide insight into the decorative arts and social narratives of the period. Many of these historical images, preserved in institutions like the National Gallery of Art, are now considered public domain and are often reproduced as high-quality prints for study and reference.
