Portrait of Amos Kennedy

Amos Kennedy

Amos Kennedy is a contemporary American printmaker whose output is characterized by urgent, text-based social and political commentary. Active around 2020, Kennedy employs the medium of printmaking to create direct, high-impact statements addressing immediate national crises.

Five documented Amos Kennedy prints are represented in major institutional collections, confirming the museum-quality standard of his work. His prints are held in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Kennedy’s prints from 2020 reflect key societal conflicts of that year, focusing heavily on systemic racial injustice and the unfolding public health crisis. Notable works include the justice-oriented print Know Justice Know Peace and the introspective, digitally-focused questions posed in What Would I Post If You Were Murdered By The Police? and What Would You Post If I Were Murdered By The Police?

A distinct subset of his work addresses the disproportionate impact of the pandemic, exemplified by the memorializing statements in Please Remember The More Than 110,000 People Who Have Died From COVID-19 and Please Remember The More Than 20,000 Black People Who Have Died From COVID-19. These documentary works are often sought after as high-quality prints for their historical and social significance.
