Albert Eyth

Albert Eyth was an American artist whose documented activity centers around 1936. Eyth is recognized for their involvement in the Index of American Design (IAD), a major initiative established under the Works Progress Administration (WPA) to create a visual archive of American decorative arts and material culture.

Eyth’s artistic output consisted primarily of detailed watercolor renderings and documentary drawings, executed for the IAD project. These works emphasized objective fidelity to the original design objects, encompassing items ranging from domestic wares to industrial crafts. Specific works represented in museum collections include studies of everyday objects such as Beer Glass, Clock, Compote (Blue Urn), and multiple renditions of Coverlet.

Works attributed to Albert Eyth are preserved in the collections of the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. As public domain documentation, these contributions to the IAD offer valuable records of historical American design. Today, these works are often sought as high-quality prints, making Eyth's detailed renderings widely accessible as downloadable artwork for research and study.
