Adrien Le Mayeur

Adrien Le Mayeur is an artist known exclusively through his surviving graphic works, documented as active during 1854. His artistic production centers on detailed prints, primarily focusing on 19th-century European landscapes and rural activities.

Eight of Le Mayeur's prints are currently represented in museum collections, confirming the importance of his output to the study of graphic art from this period. The largest repository of his documented works is held by the Rijksmuseum.

Le Mayeur’s subjects often capture daily life and domestic architecture in natural settings. Notable works in the collection include the labor scene Houthakkers werken in het bos, the natural study Landschap met knotwilgen, in het water een roeiboot met een totebel, and the architectural view Landschap met een molen aan water. Duplicate examples of the print Huizen in Bosvoorde are also preserved in the institutional collection.

Although biographical details are sparse, the consistent nature of the surviving prints offers insight into mid-19th century landscape etching techniques. As the documentation for Adrien Le Mayeur prints is often in the public domain, many of his landscape works are today available to researchers as high-quality prints.
